Meltdown

Okay, not going to lie.  I have been having a bit of a meltdown the last couple of days.  Just ask Rachel, she will confirm this status update.  Actually, I knew this would happen and I anticipated it happening much sooner than this, so I’m kind of proud that I have lasted this long.  Anyway, this morning I was sitting around feeling sorry for my stinky self and trying to get motivated to tackle the morning walk.  I managed to get dressed later than usual and headed to the orphanage to plant some more of the garden boxes.  I harvested my first radish and no one seemed to share my enthusiasm. Of course, the children were at school so they don’t count!  So we planted 2 more boxes and I felt like that was my big accomplishment for the day and decided to head home.  Now mind you, I don’t typically make trips back to my African cottage during the day.  I spend my days at Rachel’s or at the orphanage and return at night in the DARK!

So I’m walking home to take a shower (long overdue) so that I can get back to celebrate Eli’s 4th Birthday!  I make it inside my compound and decide to take my usual shortcut through the playground to climb my hill when I hear this loud rustling sound.  I look over and see this HUGE Baboon drop out of the tree!  I was a little freaked out if you can imagine and I start digging through my bag looking for my camera.  I was able to get a couple of pictures without completely agitating him and then my battery went dead.  But here you go…….

Taking the long way home!  I am not sure that you can tell just how big this guy is, but take my word for it!

Watch for lyrics to my new song - “Meltdown“  sung to the tune of “Rain Down” to be released soon!
